I hope everyone is getting as jazzed about Saturday as Carol and I are, Carol has outdone last year's decorations and cannot wait for everyone to see what see has come up with.
As far as the hunt goes, the same as always, any type of camera will catch a ghost. You can use everything from a high-tech digital to a disposable. What makes the difference is the speed. You want at least 400, the higher over that the better. Black and white film is good for contrast. I got some great shots in past years using 1200.
Digital recorders are best for EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). It might be a good idea to bring a flashlight for the graveyard.
We will be meeting at 12:00pm at Wendy's where we will give out "Ghoulie Bags", dash plaque's and collect tour money. It will be a long time till our dinner so you might want to eat before you come or grab something at Wendy's. We will be leaving Wendy's at 1:00 pm and heading to San Juan Grade Road. There is a pullout by the old memorial rock just before the Old San Juan Road Grade where we will be stopping so that I can point out some of the local haunted spots. We will then continue on the old grade to the town of San Juan Bautista. For safety reasons, please make sure you all have your radios. We will be having some guests joining us that are not experienced cruisers, they will need all the help we can give them.
We will park and get settled in then we will meet infront of the Plaza Hotel to divide up into our tours. The first tour begins at 2:30pm. If you do not make the first tour it will be a great time to explore the mission (as the mission is not included in the tours-it is self guided). Please, please be back at 3:30 pm sharp to make the second tour as they lock the buildings up at 4:30 pm for the day.
Dinner is at 6:00 pm. We also need to be on time for dinner as I am told that they will be having some of the locals giving us some "spooky history". If the ghosts cooperate I may have an interesting demonstration after dessert. (But, as we all know, ghosts don't perform on command-keep your fingers crossed)
After dinner we will be cruising up to the old San Juan Bautista cemetery where we have permission to explore. It is at this point that everyone can choose how long they want to stay, investigate or head on home.
If you guys have any questions, please feel free to call me on my cell at 710-2277 or after 7:00pm at home
